Top Wives Applaud Military Children

I’m always pleased to see our leaders take time to acknowledge the sacrifices of our military families, particularly our military children.

In honor of Month of the Military Child, First Lady Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden praised military children and encouraged Americans to support them in a video message posted on the White House’s Web site.

“As a grateful nation, it is our sacred responsibility to stand by our military children, just as they and their families stand by us,” Obama said in the video.

From improving their schools to strengthening their communities to supporting their parents and guardians, she added, “President Obama is committed to ensuring that this administration does everything it can to support our military children.”

Biden encouraged Americans to recognize and support military children, whether it’s reaching out to a new military family in the neighborhood or connecting with an organization dedicated to supporting troops and their families.

“As a mother of a National Guardsman, I have seen firsthand the difference that a small act of kindness can make,” she said. “There’s a role for each and every one of us in supporting military children.”

“Let’s mark the Month of the Military Child this year by dedicating ourselves to honoring and supporting these brave children all year long,” Obama added.

Help, I am stationed at Ramstein AB and have limited access to childcare. I am active duty as well as my husband and the CDC here does not give priority to military? What can I do to change this policy.

I know the feeling that is how it is at the base I am stationed. My husband and I are both active duty and our base has pretty much become almost completely civilianized that we do not take prioirity in childcare. It almost seems like we work and work and the least they can do is back us up, but we, active duty, get pushed to the side. I am Security Forces and our hours are grueling, it almost seems like no one cares for AD as much anymore.

I wrote a brief blog on this very subject a few days ago. My husband’s many military deployments were definite learning experiences for me, too.
